Sun-Kissed Summer-Time Salutations From The Sunshine State
Happy Thursday Newsletter Subscriber,
You may notice that this month's OOMPH! is a little abbreviated. Some of that is a symptom of our current project load, with "all hands on deck" and all cylinders firing on full. Truth be told, I just haven't had the chance to write as much as I would like. But it's certainly not for lack of good news to share!
The Change by Design team is full bore on four concurrent projects. There are challenges as I adjust to my new normal as the head of this growing company, but any worth endeavor is not accomplished without challenge.
This month we enjoyed a welcome (but brief) respite during Independence Day, reflecting on how the courage of self-determination is an ideal we can continue to express and pursue even today. For me, the 4th of July is an annual reminder of how despite all of its flaws, our form of government places citizen representation at its core, whether that be at the local, state or federal level. As a friend recently said, it's best to believe that others' intentions are good, even if we disagree with them. We must believe in our fellows and find ways to understand and forgive when we feel wronged so that our nation and its democratic values will endure. So while spending precious time with family over that long weekend, it was good to focus on gratitude for and pride in all that we have, thanks to a country whose values are rooted in the rights and respect for all.
Speaking of pride, this month I also had the opportunity to spend time with my good friends in Leadership Tallahassee Class 36. Thanks to fellow LT36 member Brian Welch (who is now one of Tallahassee's county commissioners) and his family for hosting our get-together at their lovely home.
In other good news, I was recently invited to join UWF's Instructional Design and Technology Advisory Board, and proudly accepted. I work hard to model the professional practice of investing in vocational service among my colleagues at Change by Design, especially because it aligns to our organizational value of continuous improvement. So as a Florida small businusess owner and well-known contributor to the international learning industry, I think this will be a great opportunity to give back.
One last fun piece of news to share. Although I don't take a lot of vacations during the year, when the heat and humidity of summer hit this year, Paul and I answered the call of the beach beckoning. We had a great mini-cation to Panama City Beach, full of nothing but beautiful emerald blue water and great meals. No emails, no Slack updates, just beauty.
With only a matter of weeks left until the kids/grandkids head back to school, I hope that you find a day or two to get out of the house (or office) and enjoy the outdoors, wherever you call home. As always, thanks for reading, and best wishes!

where we hit the mark, and any other feedback you have. Please rate the newsletter
