Change by Design recently completed a cultural competency performance evaluation and training system for a large Jacksonville-based nonprofit. Based on the success of the work completed during that first project, Change by Design was hired for a second project to perform a series of six job/task analyses during Q3 and Q4 of 2021.


What Are Job/Task Analyses?

A job/task analysis, abbreviated as “J/TA”, lists the hierarchy-based skill set for a specific employee role or a set of roles under a broader department umbrella. These job/task analyses will serve as the foundation for this nonprofit’s future hiring and for their curriculum development, as well as the basis for succession planning.


How Is A Job/Task Analysis Performed?

Each J/TA requires meeting with individuals in that particularly targeted role a number of times. Usually the guided interviews last over several days, taking about 12-16 hours for each J/TA to acquire all the information necessary to chart the key aspects of the job. Performing a job/task analysis requires skill to know what questions to ask and how to guide these individual “experts in their role” to substantive answers, so the instructional designer may ensure the end product accurately reflects all that the employees do.
